It was a cloudy and very occasionally rainy Saturday morning as Elita an I drove up the west side of Petit Jean Mountain. There was no view from the promontory due to heavy fog. Our main goal was breakfast at the Mather Lodge Restaurant so the weather was a secondary concern. We ate at o7oo with only a couple of other tables occupied. Breakfast there is always great and the view is the best in the state. The fall colors seemed pretty close to peak in this area and I was pleasantly surprised by this. We then walked down to the upper view of the falls but the creek was very low.
